After a remarkable 15-year career, three-time NBA champion Danny Green officially retireS from professional basketball as he announced it on his podcast Thursday. Green, known for his stellar 3-point shooting and defensive prowess, broke the news on his podcast, marking the end of an illustrious journey that left an indelible mark on the league.

Career Highlights

Danny Green, one of only four players in NBA history to win championships with three different teams (San Antonio Spurs in 2014, Toronto Raptors in 2019, and Los Angeles Lakers in 2020), built his legacy as one of the most reliable "3-and-D" players. His ability to shoot from beyond the arc and contribute defensively was key to the success of these teams.

Green’s career spanned 832 games, where he averaged 8.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Notably, his 1,577 career three-pointers rank 43rd in NBA history, and he is among an elite group of players to have made that many three-pointers while shooting 40% from beyond the arc.

Overcoming Injuries and Challenges

In 2022, Green suffered a severe ACL and LCL tear during the playoffs while playing for the Philadelphia 76ers(ESPN), an injury that limited his appearances in the final stages of his career. Despite his efforts to return to form, the injuries, combined with diminishing team interest as he aged, led Green to make the decision to step away from the game. “My body was letting me know," Green explained, reflecting on his recent calf strains and injuries.

A Lasting Impact

Danny Green will be remembered not only for his on-court achievements but also for his leadership in the locker room. His resilience and professionalism were widely recognized by teammates and coaches. As Green transitions into retirement, he remains focused on his broadcasting career, philanthropic efforts, and mentoring the next generation of players.

As Danny Green retires an end of an era is marked. A career defined by championships, leadership, and hard work has come to a close, but his influence will remain in the NBA for years to come. His transition into new ventures and mentoring highlights a new chapter for one of basketball’s greats.
