Deion Sanders Will Leave Only If He Coaches Both His Sons
Deion Sanders, head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, recently set the record straight on his future coaching aspirations. Speaking on Good Morning America, Sanders made it clear that the only scenario in which he would leave Colorado is if an NFL team offered him a role that included coaching both his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders.
"The only way I would consider is to coach my sons. Not son. Sons," Sanders said. His commitment to Colorado and the Buffaloes program remains steadfast. "I love Colorado, I love my Buffaloes, I love everything that we're building, and I love Boulder, Colorado," he added.
The Challenges of Coaching Both Sons in the NFL
The possibility of Deion Sanders coaching both Shedeur and Shilo on the same NFL team is slim. Shedeur, a standout quarterback, is predicted to be a high draft pick. His collegiate stats include 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and only 10 interceptions during the 2024 season. This performance places him as one of the top quarterback prospects in the upcoming NFL draft.
On the other hand, Shilo, a talented safety, also shows promise, though his draft stock is less certain. With 45 tackles, one forced fumble, and two defended passes in 2024, he has potential but might not land on the same NFL team as his brother.
Building Success at Colorado
Sanders has transformed the Colorado Buffaloes into a competitive force since taking over as head coach. Inheriting a team with a dismal 1-11 record in 2022, he led them to a 9-4 season in 2024. Although the team narrowly missed the College Football Playoff, the Buffaloes are now a program with championship aspirations.
For now, Sanders is fully focused on developing the Buffaloes and supporting his sons' transitions to the NFL. His dedication to his family and the Colorado program underscores his priorities: fostering success both on and off the field.
What Experts Say
Sports analysts have commended Sanders’ approach. "Deion’s leadership at Colorado is reshaping college football. His emphasis on family and team culture is a refreshing dynamic," said NCAA analyst Jake Fisher.
While fans may speculate about Sanders' future in the NFL, his commitment to Colorado and his sons remains unwavering. For now, the Buffaloes are the beneficiaries of his coaching expertise, and the NFL will have to wait.
