Paul Pogba Offered to Barcelona: What’s Next for the French Star?
In recent football headlines, Paul Pogba, the French international midfielder currently at Juventus, has been linked with a potential move to FC Barcelona. But as the latest news, Barcelona has opted not to sign Pogba amidst reports he is on a free transfer. This comes as any clarity on where Pogba’s career goes remains in limbo given the former’s recent doping incident and the current club contemplating on the latest contract termination.
Barcelona’s Stance on Paul Pogba
Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta clearly views Pogba as someone who is not a top target for the Catalan club. While wishing to note that Laporta has already spoken in praise of the player when he was at his peak, these days he is interested in hiring players for other positions. The club has many midfielders such as Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Dani Olmo, and as such, does not feel the need to chase after Pogba. Moreover, at 31 years old, Pogba's age and recent controversies have raised concerns regarding his long-term viability in a squad aiming for future dominance.
Pogba's Uncertain Future
Pogba’s contract with Juventus is at a precarious end as the Italian club is looking to cut ties with the player. The French footballer is currently on suspension due to a doping offense and despite his punishment being cut down to 18 months recently, which makes it possible to hit the pitch by March 2025, such clarity does not come for Pogba. Reports revealed that the option to possibly release Pogba from his contract is also on the table for consideration by the club, Juventus.
No Move to Barcelona for Pogba
At this stage, it seems highly unlikely that Paul Pogba will make a move to Barcelona. With the club’s focus on young midfielders and a clear strategy for the future, Pogba's name has been removed from the list of prospective signings. His next career move remains uncertain, but it appears that Barcelona will not be part of it.
